Got a question for y'all. I've breached this to Adam and thought I should get somemore input. How do you feel about me testing dowsing rods and crystal pendants in correlation with you all using the modern equipment? I've wondered at their actual effectiveness ever since my days at WCU. They have been used for years in water and mineral deposit searches (effectiveness results depends on who you're talking to...) and they are legendary items in ghost hunting. Just thought this could be a way to prove/disprove in a scientific manner... Input and discussion welcome. Have a great day.

Trial and error based, I often see alot of psychics use them since it is believed they are sensitive to the paranormal "hot spots". So, ya, I believe in this case it would be a trial and error.

Personally I'm not happy about the thought of using either tech, but mostly because any of their applications to the Paranormal would essentially be using them like Ouija boards, and I don't see any place for that sort of method in a scientific venture.
That being said, I've never seen the dowising rod meathod used for anything but water seeking, nor heard of a dowser applying his skill to supernatrual investigation. Anyone else have info on that sort of thing?

If you search it on the net, you will find that alot of people actually use dowsing rods for paranormal investigation...used mainly in magnetic field spike detection.

Ahh. Isn't there digital equipment that will be just as effective on magnetic field spike detection tho?

Wow...I got input...cool...Yep, the digital equipment is effective, more so than the dowsing rods. But what I'm wanting to do is investigate just how good the dowsing rods are. There is some science theory behind the rods and silicon based crystals. Both are affected by variations in electromagnetic fields...in theory anyway. That's why I want to try them at the same time modern technology is in use. Just a one of those "What if" things. It won't be a hindrance to actual investigative work I promise. Scout's Honor... We can discuss this later when we get down to brass tacks and actual field work...Stay warm, folks...it's coooooollld out there.

I know that dowsing is exeptionally effective when trying to find water (actually assisted a dowser once), but it would be interesting to see if it was effective at all with the paranormal.

To be honest, I'm a straight fan of technology. But until proven less effective, we should be open for any possible ways to detect ANY disruptions we may encounter. Also, keep in mind that our first couple of cases will be trial and error and people getting to know what they need to do for the team. We just don't need people running around doing whatever they feel like. The more organized, the better!

I think we should try them out and see what kind of data we get with them. I also think we shoud get a few invistigations under our belt before we try them. We can always go back to previous locations they are not used on.
