Lydia's Bridge has fascinated me since I first heard about it as a very young boy. My Dad knew a State Trooper who picked her up and went through the described ordeal. I plan to check it out one weekend when I'm visiting my brother in Winston Salem. Interesting tidbit on this is that HauntedNC had issued a debunking of it, then retracted it when new evidence showed up that there actually had been a Lydia killed in a car crash in 1923. Makes ya wonder, don't it? Here's the link for your own information... hauntednc.com/legends_lydiasbridge.htm

I actually went to "Lydia's Bridge" back in December. I'd heard the story during the History of Witchcraft class at UNC-Greensboro, when we were all sharing ghost stories and other legends from North Carolina. I thought it'd be interesting to see, so I went one day.
It was late in the day when I went, but the sun was still shining (I refused to go at night alone. I'm interested, but I ain't stupid, you know?). The original underpass is about a hundred yards from the current underpass, but I walked over to the original underpass. I didn't plan on going all the way over there, but it proved to be fairly simple.
It was a very eerie experience to say the least. I didn't have an "experience," but there the place did give off a chilling "vibe," if you know what I mean. I took several photographs of the current and original underpass. It was easy to get to, though that will change in the summer, when all the vines grow back out.
If anybody's interested in seeing the photographs, I'll send them to you via e-mail. I used a disposable camera, so I'll have to scan them and all that.
Hope that everybody is doing well. Take care, and God bless!

I know of a way to kill it forever... But, it will eliminate guest viewing which I think we should keep for now... With all the administrative controls we have, we should be able to keep this under control... We'll close it off to guest posting if the need should arise... It did on my other board... lol
